On February 8, 2019, Judge Michael J. Linn was sworn in as Circuit Judge at an investiture ceremony conducted at the St. Lucie County Courthouse.
Judge Linn received his undergraduate degree from the University of West Florida and graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. After law school, Judge Linn served as an assistant state attorney under State Attorney Bruce H. Colton for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. Over the last fourteen years with the State Attorney's Office, he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases in Martin and St. Lucie Counties, specializing in vehicular homicide cases and served as a supervisor for the Misdemeanor Division for five years.
Currently, Judge Linn is assigned to Indian River County, where he presides over all juvenile dependency and delinquency cases, including detention and shelter hearings; all probate and guardianship cases; felony, delinquency and dependency drug court cases; substance abuse and mental health cases; and all risk protections order cases. He also serves as an adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice program at the Indian River State College.
