On October 10, 2019, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for a new Nursing Room in the Martin County Courthouse. The implementation of a Nursing Room was formed to provide resources that new mothers need to achieve work/life balance.
The creation of the Nursing Room is the result of nearly eight months of collaboration between the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), the Martin County Chapter of FAWL, the Court, court staff, the Clerk of Court, and Clerk’s office staff. Judge Elizabeth Metzger and Clerk Carolyn Timmann were instrumental in these efforts. All individuals involved in the project deserve to be recognized for the efforts in this community project.
The Nursing Room is located on the third floor of the courthouse, directly across from the elevator. Access will be permitted to employees, attorneys, and members of the general public through the use of specially created access cards. Visitors may check in with the Clerk’s office for access to the room.
