Santa Claus came early for the children participating in Judge White's Okeechobee County Early Childhood Court (ECC)!
ECC is a problem-solving court serving infants and toddlers (ages 0-5) who are involved in the child welfare system and placed in out-of-home care, striving to improve family outcomes using a national approach, with evidence based best practices. The key to ECC is to incorporate an added component of child-parent psychotherapy (CPP) to help support and strengthen the parent-child relationship. This helps achieve the overall goal of improving child safety and well-being, heal trauma and repair the parent/child relationship, promote timely permanency, prevent recurrence of maltreatment, and stop the intergenerational cycle of abuse, neglect, and violence.
The Nineteenth Judicial Circuit would like to give a special thanks to Communities Connected for Kids, Children’s Home Society of Florida, Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition, Our Village Okeechobee, Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, Misty's Pals and to our very own Santa Claus...Mr. Buxton. Amazing things happen when the community comes together!
